For more than 25 years, Ausreo has supported Australia’s construction industry with certified steel reinforcement solutions, spanning residential builds to nationally significant infrastructure projects. With 24 branches across the East Coast, the business combines deep industry expertise with a strong focus on innovation and operational efficiency.
As Ausreo scaled, operational complexity grew, particularly across pricing and invoicing. Dynamic project requirements and fluctuating market conditions drove high volumes of pricing queries, while invoicing involved varied formats, timing differences and frequent exceptions, creating manual effort and friction for sales, finance and administration teams.
Ausreo recognised that improving accuracy and efficiency required more than automation. It needed a smarter, adaptive approach, one that could manage exceptions, preserve negotiated line‑item pricing, and intelligently handle invoice‑to‑pay processes without adding risk.
PwC worked closely with Ausreo to understand its end‑to‑end processes, capacity, and long‑term technology roadmap. This was not a point solution, but the co‑design of a scalable foundation using Microsoft technologies already embedded in Ausreo’s environment.
Collaborative workshops helped align teams on the highest‑impact priorities, addressing root causes rather than symptoms and creating value quickly while enabling future scale.
With deep experience running Microsoft technologies, Ausreo chose to build on Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform. PwC’s role went beyond delivery — challenging assumptions, aligning design to Ausreo’s roadmap, and keeping outcomes front and centre.
“PwC wasn’t just a vendor, they challenged our thinking, aligned to our roadmap, and helped us stay focused on what would deliver value fastest.”
Brendon Kelly – Ausreo CTOPwC designed and implemented an AI agent using Microsoft Copilot Studio, orchestrated through the Power Platform and integrated directly into Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management. The solution incorporates human in the loop controls, full audit logging, and workflow governance, embedding AI safely within core enterprise processes rather than operating alongside them.
An agentic AI approach was deliberately selected because it’s wellsuited to complex, exceptionheavy environments. From the outset, the solution was designed for data security, auditability, and cost optimisation, allowing Ausreo to scale AI capabilities confidently across other domains over time.
The impact was immediate. Pricing issues for Construction Solutions customers caused by incorrect date use in trade agreement pricing declined by 100%, while issues from overridden special pricing dropped by 95%. Sales and administration teams now spend significantly less time investigating pricing discrepancies and more time adding value for customers, who can trust that invoiced prices reflect what was agreed.
Just as importantly, the first delivery became a repeatable blueprint. A proven way to
identify highvalue use cases, codesign with subject matter experts, and deploy AI safely inside Dynamics 365 using Copilot Studio and the Power Platform.
“The power of the PwC Microsoft alliance is moving agentic AI from isolated pilots to enterprise‑wide transformation in financial services. By combining PwC’s deep industry expertise with Microsoft’s secure, scalable technology, we co‑create solutions that modernise operations, strengthen compliance and unlock measurable value across the organisation."
Tracey Kennair, Microsoft Alliance Leader, PwC AustraliaFollowing the success of the pricing initiative, Ausreo expanded into a broader next phase, extending the same design principles to invoice‑to‑pay automation.
Invoice processing presents significant automation challenges due to varied formats, timing differences, and frequent exceptions. To lift automation maturity beyond standard Dynamics 365 capabilities, PwC introduced an AI‑enabled invoice‑to‑pay agent embedded directly into the workflow.
The solution interprets complex invoices using vendor‑specific prompts, enriches and maps invoice lines, and intelligently matches invoices to purchase orders and goods receipts even where relationships are not one‑to‑one. Exceptions, such as missing goods receipts, are identified early and routed for proactive resolution.
By embedding AI directly into core operations, Ausreo has reduced friction, improved accuracy, and built a scalable foundation for growth. Delivered through the PwC Microsoft Alliance, the solution goes beyond fixing problems- helping Ausreo resolve them proactively and continue supporting Australia’s construction industry with confidence.
