PwC Australia launches AI-powered Cyber Managed Services

Thursday, 8 October 2026

PwC Australia has today launched Cyber Managed Services, a new AI-powered cyber security offering that provides organisations with 24/7 monitoring, threat detection and response through a subscription-based model.

The launch marks a significant step in PwC's push to create new solutions for clients, fit for the AI era, expanding the firm's role beyond advising and implementing change to helping clients operate critical business functions using agentic solutions.

Designed for private and mid-market organisations, particularly in highly regulated sectors, Cyber Managed Services combines Google SecOps technology, PwC's global threat intelligence and AI-powered investigation agents to identify, investigate and respond to cyber threats around the clock.

Following Finance Managed Services, it is the second offering in PwC Australia's growing agentic managed services portfolio.

PwC Australia advisory leader Ro Antao said the launch reflected a shift in client expectations and the professional services market.

"Increasingly, organisations are looking for partners that can help define the answer, implement the solution and remain accountable for operating outcomes over time. That's why managed services are such an important part of our firmwide strategy."

"We believe the market is shifting from advice-only engagements towards models that combine advice, implementation and ongoing operation, and Cyber Managed Services is the latest example of how we’re responding to that change.”

For many mid-market organisations, cyber security requirements continue to grow as threat activity increases and regulatory obligations become more complex. Yet maintaining a dedicated 24/7 cyber operations capability and accessing specialist cyber talent remains difficult and costly.

Cyber Managed Services has been designed to address that challenge by providing enterprise-grade cyber security operations through an ongoing managed service model.

AI-enabled cyber operations with human accountability

When suspicious activity is detected, AI agents gather information across cloud, identity, application and endpoint environments, helping to assess whether activity represents a genuine threat. PwC cyber specialists then review the findings, determine the appropriate response and remain accountable for decisions and outcomes.

PwC Australia managed services leader Michael Cerny said the model was designed to improve the speed, scale and effectiveness of cyber threat investigation, while maintaining clear human oversight.

"AI significantly improves the speed and scale at which cyber threats can be investigated, allowing our specialists to focus on judgement, response and risk management."

“Automating routine investigative work gives analysts more time to focus on the threats that matter most. In one client environment, investigation time fell from about 20 minutes to 60 seconds. In another, the client was able to analyse twice as much security data for half the cost, which allowed them to reinvest further in better coverage.”

The service operates under PwC Australia's Responsible AI, security and data protection standards. AI agents can investigate alerts and recommend actions, but decisions affecting client environments require human authorisation.

Client data remains segregated, agent activity is logged and reviewable, and all services operate within PwC Australia's governance, security and risk management frameworks.

Available on a fixed-fee subscription-based model, Cyber Managed Services expands PwC Australia's managed services portfolio and reflects growing client demand for operating models that combine AI, technology and human expertise to deliver ongoing outcomes.

Finance Managed Services and Cyber Managed Services are the first visible proof points of PwC Australia's managed services strategy, with additional offerings planned across areas including financial crime, legal services, payroll, customer management, third-party risk and operational resilience.
