Our own ESG journey

We understand that our work can impact our stakeholders, the capital markets and the communities in which we live and work. We support the growing calls for organisations to be more transparent about their impact on society, and have been working alongside standards setters and regulators to seek greater consistency and alignment. See how we at PwC approach Corporate Sustainability.

In 2020, PwC contributed to efforts led by the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum to develop a core set of common metrics and disclosures on non-financial factors. Access the Measuring Stakeholder Capitalism report here.

As a business, we’ve begun our own journey to be as open and transparent as we can against these core ESG metrics. A few recent highlights include:

  • Releasing PwC Australia’s Transparency Report 2020, which details how we are focussed on the quality of our audit work, and striving for continuous improvement.
  • Our global commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2030. We’ll reduce our total greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in absolute terms over the next decade, invest in carbon removals and support our clients and suppliers to decarbonise their own operations too.
  • Supporting reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians through the launch of our Elevate Reconciliation Action Plan. We continue to encourage public support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
  • PwC Australia's Human Rights Statement strengthens our commitment to uphold the human rights of all people, and to respect and promote human rights wherever we operate.
  • Releasing PwC Australia's Joint Modern Slavery Statement for FY20, which details how we identify and address modern slavery risks impacting the people involved in our operations and supply chains, and how we aim to enhance our approach to these risks.
  • Realising PwC Australia’s Social Impact: FY20 Year in Review, a report which outlines our contribution to some of the biggest issues we face as a nation through our corporate responsibility programs and shared value initiatives.
  • Continuing to build a diverse and inclusion culture which expects and rewards behaviours that support all our people to reach their full potential. Read more about Diversity & Inclusion at PwC - including our strategy, targets and latest efforts.
  • Working towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, by understanding the impact of our firm’s operations.
