According to the NDIA, there are 4.3 million Australians who live with a disability. Each one of these individuals are an important member of our community.
PwC shares the vision of supporting a more inclusive Australia where people with disabilities have choice and control over the support that they receive, so that they may pursue their own life goals.
The introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme plays a key role in supporting a fundamental shift in how supports are provided and has created the foundation for significant change. However, with change also comes uncertainty. And as disability service providers acclimatise to a new funding and operating environment, and state governments continue to review and exit direct service delivery, there is a need to ensure sustainability during complex times.
The recent announcement of a Royal Commission into the violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability is likely to further affect how services are organised, embedding an environment of change.
