Mr Cutting Edge

IT whiz Jason Zheng: Transforming PwC’s working styles through new technology development

Jason Zheng grew up in China, where he initially studied and obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Tsinghua University. After spending some time working as an Account Manager for the China Mobile Communication Corporation, Jason soon discovered a passion for Information Technology. With an appetite for adventure and a desire to make his dream a reality, Jason moved to Australia where he successfully completed a Diploma of IT from RMIT and later his Masters of Information Technology.

Today, Jason is a Senior Consultant at PwC within the Australian technology team, where he consults and develops mobile apps and software for internal customers.

"My role here is really varied so I have the opportunity to experience something new each and every day."

"PwC is an exciting place to be right now. Employees are moving into new offices with innovative, collaborative and technology focused working environments. To support this transformation we are changing the face of technology. In addition to providing technical support we are moving to a more proactive model of business partnering."

“My role here is really varied so I have the opportunity to experience something new each and every day,” says Jason. “Some of our new projects use cutting-edge technology. For example, we are designing virtual reality experiences with clients to bring their ideas to life. These projects are fun to work on,” he adds.

“As our businesses grow and service offerings expand, it’s imperative that our technology team equips our employees with the tools they need to help our clients achieve their goals. It’s our job to positively influence people’s working style and drive technology adoption to enable employees to become more efficient and productive.”

Jason’s career highlights include building new tools for PwC employees that empower people to use more modern interfaces such as Google to make processes more efficient.

"It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fan of Pokémon or the footy, a tech geek or into Nirvana, you will always find your place here."

Jason not only loves the opportunity PwC offers in terms of learning but he is a big fan of the diverse culture: “It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fan of Pokémon or the footy, a tech geek or into Nirvana, you will always find your place here.”

For Jason, technology is not just a passion, it’s a lifestyle. Outside of work, he loves to code and one day hopes to set up a school that gives kids the opportunity to learn this important skill for free, with a focus on educating those from lower socio-economic regions. We can’t wait to see what he gets up to next! #watchthisspace
