Matthew Wilde

National Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Leader

Matthew is the National Leader for PwC's Corporate Advisory and Restructuring business of 120+ staff. He has over 23 years restructuring experience having built restructuring businesses in 4 jurisdictions in Europe and Asia-Pac and led countless successful restructurings for his lending, management and private equity clients.

"As we pull out of the worst of the GFC, stakeholders in distressed businesses are looking to avoid insolvency and instead to partner with a team who can add real creativity - including in turnaround implementation, debt restructuring, distressed M&A and cost and working capital management. Also, style really counts for a lot and these stakeholders want a more collaborative hands on approach from a partner who can help them retain the initiative and deliver on their promises and who doesn't destabilise the business as soon as they cross the threshold."

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Economics with Accounting & Finance, from the London School of Economics), is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and exam qualified to be a UK insolvency practitioner before moving his focus onto restructuring and turnaround.

Additionally, Matthew has completed numerous educational courses at organisations including Harvard Business School and London Business School and has been an occasional lecturer on turnaround and restructuring issues to MBA students in Europe and to various professional and commercial bodies.

Matthew lives in Sydney with his wife and two children.
