UN Women Australia

UN Women Australia is the National Committee for UN Women in Australia and is one of 18 National Committees globally. UN Women work to raise public awareness of gender and development issues and fundraise for UN Women projects around the world.

International Women's Day 2012

International Women's Day is celebrated globally on March 8th each year. UN Women Australia's theme for International Women's Day 2012 is Women's Economic Empowerment. To celebrate International Women's Day 2012, PwC will be running a national competition, supported by Young UN Women Australia, aimed at creating value to support women's economic empowerment.

The competition

Students currently enrolled in any university in Australia are invited to enter at www.creatingvalue.com.au by submitting a response to the question "How would you add value in business or the wider community through supporting women's economic empowerment?"

The entrant with the best submission will not only win a $1,000 grant but also be paired with a PwC female mentor for 12 months. This is a unique opportunity for students across Australia to gain personal access to the Australian business sector.

To enter, select the 'Social Equity and Attitudes' theme and include:
  • Idea name – ensure you add "UN Women" before your idea name
  • A short description of the idea in 140 characters or less
  • A detailed description of the idea (3,000 characters max)
