5th Global Economic Crime Survey - Australian Results

Fraud in uncertain economic times

How can controlling fraud improve your business?

PwC has released the Australian results of it's 5th Global Economic Crime Survey. The survey, conducted in conjunction with INSEAD Business is the largest and most comprehensive survey of its kind and provides a global, regional and Australian perspective on fraud. Globally, more than 3000 organisations in 54 countries participated in the survey, which also draws on a library of data, dating back 10 years to the first global survey and 8 years to the first Australian survey.

The focus of the survey, conducted between July and November 2009, was to understand what if any impact the downturn had. Respondents were asked about fraud in their business over a 12 month period that broadly corresponded to the volatile economic and financial times.

The Australian results provide valuable insight and advice on:
  • Inevitability of fraud in a downturn
  • Impact of fraud on Australian business
  • An outlook on the future of fraud
  • New and emerging fraud risks
  • Detecting and preventing fraud.
