Internal Controls in Australia
The issues of internal controls and corporate governance have attracted
an enormous amount of attention and debate, as well as investment, over
the past five years. On behalf of PwC, the Economist Intelligence Unit
undertook research on internal controls and corporate governance within
the Australian corporate community.
Key results
- Companies continue to be conerned about maintaining and improving their internal controls regimes
- The quality of internal controls information is patchy
- There is a general feeling of "governance fatigue" within the Australian corporate community
- There is interest in third-party information on "softer" issues such as governance, culture and sustainability.
