Earth Hour
PwC blacks-out for Earth Hour 2010
Earth Hour 2010 once again brought together millions of people across the globe in support of action on climate change, with a record 4,300 cities in 126 countries participating. Each of the PwC office buildings around Australia powered down on 27 March, thanks to the collaboration across our facilities and building management teams.
Other PwC offices throughout the Australasia region also participated in a variety of ways. Shanghai's Office Lead Partner featured in advertisements promoting Earth Hour in key publications in China. Taiwan implemented a flash screen when employees logged in; Japan utilised light boxes to promote Earth Hour; email footers were rolled out in New Zealand; and Indonesia used their Facebook pages to promote the cause. In addition, all PwC territories around the world participated in the 'website blackout' initiative, which saw pwc.com turn black for the duration of Earth Hour.
Earth Hour connects people and organisations across borders, languages and cultures to promote a commitment to safeguarding the future of the planet. Let's continue to make long term changes to the way we use energy at work and at home.
