Capacity Building

Delivering value by sharing our expertise

One of our Foundation's strategic goals is to create sustainable social change through strengthening the business skills and expertise of our charity partners. We believe this is one of the most impactful ways to support our communities, and are finding there is very strong and growing demand for this support, which we call Capacity Building. This work is undertaken at heavily discounted rates.

The growing demand for this support is reflected in the increase in PwC's capacity building from $7.6 million in FY10 to $9.8 million in FY11. The aim of capacity building is to ensure that the work undertaken adds strategic value to the organisation, and maximises the impact PwC can have in providing skilled resources.

Some recent Capacity Building engagements include:
  • Australian Red Cross - Business process improvement
  • Landcare - Review and update of Website Portal and National Landcare Directory
  • Mission Australia - Implementation of client management system
  • SVA Social Enterprises - Financial planning, developing business plans, tax advice
  • The Smith Family - IT system transformation
  • Urban Seed, The Salvation Army & Mission Australia - Tax Clinics.
In FY09 PwC's capacity building project with Mission Australia, MACSIMS, won "Best use of software in non-for-profit setting" by the Australian Community Technology Awards.
