  The CFO Awards luncheon is the premier annual event for senior finance executives in Australia. We were nominated as a finalist in both the Audit Firm of the Year and Accounting Firm of the Year categories. The panel of judges acknowledged the depth and breadth of our services in audit and our stringent risk controls and management strategies.

• Professional Service Firm of 2010, Market Leader, Best Management Consulting Firm and State Award for Western Australia – BRW Client Choice Awards

  PwC Australia won four major awards in the prestigious 2010 Beaton/BRW Client Choice Awards in Sydney on Wednesday 17 March, including overall professional services firm of the year (revenue over $200 million).   Based on independent research by Beaton Consulting, the Client Choice Awards assess professional service firms from the perspective of the client. In 2010, clients submitted more than 21,237 individual ratings of the firms they use. PwC CEO, Mark Johnson, said he was thrilled to accept the awards on behalf of all partners and staff, thanking them for their dedication to delivering outstanding client service.
  
  "We don't take anything for granted. We are particularly delighted to receive these awards as they reflect the views of the people who matter most – our clients," said Mr Johnson.

• Excellence in Environmental Practices and Excellence in Community Practices – BRW ANZ Private Business Awards

  Our behavioural changes such as default double-sided printing and increased video conferencing have contributed to such progress, with a 37 per cent reduction in carbon emissions in FY10 (from baseline FY08 level).
  
  Our award for Excellence in Community Practices recognises the shift in our strategic focus – from unskilled volunteering and giving programs, to mentoring and employing our skills to support the sector with achieving their goals. In FY10, for example, the firm undertook $16 million in capacity building (pro bono or heavily discounted professional services work) and 252 employees mentored in the community.
  
  These awards are a fantastic tribute to the impact of our firm's commitment to corporate responsibility, and the distinctiveness of our work – with more than 600 entries submitted for 11 awards. This recognition is another small step forward in our aim to be recognised as leading edge in corporate responsibility.

• Best Advisory/Consultancy in the area of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Australasia – Environmental Finance magazine

  In recognition of their outstanding work, PwC's Australian Sustainability & Climate Change team (S&CC) was named the lead greenhouse gas advisory group throughout Australasia. More…
  
  This is the first time any PwC climate change team, and the firm, has received this internationally renowned accolade. The award came as the result of the ninth annual market survey run by the leading environmental and business publication Environmental Finance magazine.
  
  The survey is the largest of its kind, receiving votes from more than 1,500 business readers from around the globe. Participants were asked to nominate their preferred bankers, brokers, advisors, law firms and consultancies in various markets based on criteria such as innovation, speed of service and quality of deliverables.

• Gold rating and Best Progress Gold Award – Corporate Responsibility Index

  PwC has won the 2009 Corporate Responsibility Index (CRI) Best Progress Gold Award of the 7th CRI Awards, presented on Thursday 27 May 2010. More…
  
  The CRI is a highly regarded index, with over 350 companies having participated globally to date, including over 70 Australian and New Zealand companies. Our overall score of 92.8 per cent (a score above 90 per cent is in the gold category) was a significant improvement of 19 per cent from our 2008 results.
  
  Clients of our sustainability practice, Western Power and Energy Australia, won the Best Progress Bronze Award and Best Overall Performance Platinum Award respectively – demonstrating that good advisers help produce good results.

• Second best global employer after Google for business students across all sectors – Universum survey

  This is the first global index of employer attractiveness by employer branding company Universum, which highlights the world's 50 most powerful employer brands – those companies that excel in talent attraction and retention.
  
  PwC has been ranked second – after Google – as the world's most attractive employer, placing us as the highest among the Big Four firms and boutique management consultancies. Ernst & Young placed fifth, KPMG eighth, followed by McKinsey and Deloitte 10th, rounding off the top 10.
  
  The ranking is based on a survey of business students from the US, Japan, China, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Russia, Spain, Canada and India. Nearly 120,000 students from top academic institutions chose their ideal companies to work for.

• Employer of Choice for Women – EOWA

• Financial Excellence Award for the Victorian Desalination Plant Project – IPA Awards

  The Project Finance team's work on the Victorian desalination project earned them accolades at both the IPA Awards and the 2010 Infrastructure Journal Awards (based in the UK). More…
  
  At the IPA Awards, PwC was awarded the financial excellence award for the work the Project Finance team did on the Victorian Desalination Project. The Victorian Port Corporation with its $1 billion bay dredging project won project of the year. PwC was appointed to the dredging project to provide commercial advice after the project had reached an impasse in its approval to proceed.

• Public Private Partnership Deal of the Year and Global Infrastructure Deal of the Year: Victorian Desalination Plant Project – Infrastructure Journal Annual Awards

  The team received awards for PPP Deal of the Year and Global Infrastructure Deal of the Year – both for the Victorian Desalination Project. This is a huge honour for our Project Finance group. The Infrastructure Journal awards are judged by an independent team of industry professionals and are the only peer-reviewed awards in our sector.

  This award recognises the charity work and pro bono legal services John has provided as Honorary Senior Legal Adviser to the Returned & Services League of Australia (NSW Branch) since 1997, the RSL Welfare & Benevolent Institution, the Australian Overseas Forces Fund and RSL LifeCare Limited. It also acknowledges his service as a non-executive director and legal adviser of Ian Thorpe's Fountain for Youth charity.

• Partner Tony Peake recognised as an Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) Victorian Fellow

  PwC's Managing Partner Melbourne Tony Peake was elevated to Victorian Fellow status by the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA), recognising his contribution to public administration in Victoria as a consultant and business leader. More…
  
  Tony is the Client Lead Partner for the Victorian Government account which, as a collective of departments and agencies, was the firm's largest revenue generator in FY09.
  
  Victorian Fellows comprise 140 senior people, including most of the Secretaries (CEOs) and Deputy Secretaries of government departments, who enjoy special events and other engagements with IPAA. Tony was the only private sector person among the dozen or so inductees this year.
